Change your card’s URL and understand what happens to old links

Edit your Wisery URL slug, check the saved address, and replace links and QR codes that still use the old URL.

Change the part of your Wisery online-card address after wisery.me/ to make the link easier to recognize. Plan the change before saving: old links and QR codes still contain the previous address and will not automatically become the new link.

Applies to: Wisery online-card owners with access to the URL editor. This changes the card’s Wisery URL slug, meaning the final part of its address. Connecting a domain you own is a separate AppSumo feature.

Should I change the URL or only update the card?

If you only need to change a Wisery online card’s name, bio, images, or buttons, edit that existing card and leave its Online card URL unchanged. That preserves the address used by shared links and QR codes. Change the URL only when you also intend to change the address people use to open the card.

How do I change the Wisery URL slug?

  1. Open Business cards → Online cards in Wisery and select the existing card’s preview.

  2. In Profile, find Online card URL. Copy the current complete address before changing it.

  3. Select the URL field or its pencil icon. The editable field shows the slug rather than the full web address.

  4. Enter your intended slug. For example, a slug of alex-morgan would form wisery.me/alex-morgan if that address is available. Use your own available value; this example does not reserve an address.

  5. Review the spelling, then select Save changes only when you are ready to apply the address change. Use Cancel to discard the unsaved slug edit.

  6. Follow any additional save step the editor displays. Open Business cards → Online cards → Share and copy the complete address now shown under Share online card.

Edit the slug in Online card URL. Save changes applies the address change; Cancel discards the unsaved edit.

Open the new address in a visitor browser and confirm that it reaches the intended card. Use the saved address shown by Wisery rather than constructing a link from an unsaved value.

What happens to links and QR codes using my previous URL?

Previous URL redirects to Wisery’s main landing page after the slug is changed. It should therefore not be treated as a working redirect to your renamed card. Test the actual old address and replace old links wherever you shared them.

A printed or downloaded QR code does not rewrite the web address encoded in it. After a URL change, download the QR code for the new address, test it on a phone, and replace old QR artwork where needed. Update email signatures, social profiles, websites, and event materials that still use the previous address.

If a Wallet QR opens an online card, check the linked card in the Wallet editor and scan the actual installed pass after the URL change. Do not assume that changing a URL repaired every previously distributed QR code.

What if the URL is already taken or the change fails?

Wisery reports an error if the chosen URL already exists. Choose a different value and check the address actually retained by the editor. Do not send a proposed new link before you have saved and opened it successfully.

If the new address fails, reopen Share online card, copy its current URL, and check that you edited the correct card. Contact Wisery support through the in-app Messenger with the previous URL, the intended new URL, and the exact error if the saved address still does not open the card.

Is connecting a custom domain the same change?

Changing a wisery.me slug and connecting a custom domain use different settings and have different redirect behavior. Custom-domain setup is available only to AppSumo users. Use the custom-domain guide for DNS setup and test both the old Wisery address and the new branded address after that connection.
